Working towards the perfect finish
After university and living in Regensburg for a year, I spent more than five years working for different international manufacturers. I saw research being put into practice and the finished, customised product being exported to the customers I spoke to all over the world. Supporting German-speaking customers meant I could use my German language skills on a daily basis.
For my next career move I was faced with making a decision between languages and science. I was never content to work in a lab and not speak German but at the same time I felt that being a pure linguist would have lacked the excitement of product innovations and seeing how chemistry is applied in real life.
In 2008 I decided to go self-employed and work as an English translator of chemical texts. At the same time I started my Master’s degree in Translation, which I passed with distinction. Since 2013 I have also been a qualified member of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting (ITI) for German to English chemical translations.
Working as a German to English chemical translator gives me the opportunity to get involved at the sharp end of business. It allows me to discover how your unique products work and to use my flair for languages to effectively communicate this to the English-speaking market. My mission is to produce high-quality, engaging translations that reflect your brand and give your English customers the personalised service they expect from you.
